Victory parade took place at Russian air base Hmeimim
Parade in memory of the 75 th anniversary of the Victory of Soviet people in Great Patriotic War took place at Russian air base Hmeimim attended by more than one thousand military servicemen.
“We have the honor to participate in the parade in memory of the 75‑th anniversary of the Victory in Great Patriotic War at the territory of Syrian Arab Republic together with the troops of Syrian Army. We are united ... by our responsibility for the present, future and heroic past. Let us be worthy of the heroic deed of the generation of Great Patriotic War!” said Alexander Chaiko, Lieutenant ‑General, General Commanding Officer of Russian Troops in Syria.
The parade in memory of the 75‑th anniversary of the Victory in Great Patriotic War was attended by more than one thousand Russian and Syrian military servicemen. Dismounted formations in historical uniform of the times of the Great Patriotic War, control officers and military servicemen of Russian troops, mixed aviation regiment, medical special detachment, military provost units, military band and military parade unit of service‑women marched in the parade. Syria was represented by special ground troops and Syrian air forces, and special assault regiment “Commandos” and representative of Syrian Navy Academy.
Mechanized convoy that took part in the parade included Russian armored vehicles “Tiger‑M” and “Typhoon”, armored troop carriers BTR-80 and BTR-82A, anti‑aircraft missile and artillery systems “Pantsir” and short‑range Iskander‑M systems, and military vehicles of Syrian ground troops, total of 52 units. 17 aircrafts took part in the air part of the parade: I-8ATMSh, Mi-35, SA-342 Gazelle helicopters and Su-24, Su-34, Su-35 airplanes, AN-30 and An-72 military‑transport airplanes, and A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft.
The Parade was visited by Alexander Efimov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russian in Syria, Ali Abdullah Ayyoub, Syrian Minister of Defence and Corpus General, Mansour Azzam, Minister of Presidential Affairs of Syria, Yaser Al‑Haffa, Commander of Syrian Marine ‑Troops and Division General, and Governors of Latakia and Tartus, Al Salem and Safuan Abusada.
