The T-34 tank led the mechanized convoy during the Victory parade in Chita
The T-34, a legendary tank of the Great Patriotic War, led a mechanized column at the parade in honor of the Victory Day in Chita, Zabaykalsky Krai, according to the press service of the Eastern Command.
“A solemn parade including dismounted crews, a mechanized column, and aviation was held on Lenin Square in Chita to mark the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War... The mechanized column was led by the T-34, a legendary Soviet medium tank of the Great Patriotic War. The convoy included more than 50 operational machines from the military units of the garrison,” the report says.
Modern equipment was represented by the T-72 tanks, the Buk and the S-300 ‑anti-aircraft missile systems, the Iskander‑M short-range ballistic missile system launchers, and the BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles. This year, the Leer-3 radio jamming stations and the latest Tiger armored vehicles participated in the Parade for the first time.
“10 airplanes and helicopters participated in the airborne parade in the sky over Chita, including the Su-30SM multipurpose fighters, the Mi-8 and the Mi-24 helicopters,” the press‑ service reports.
Soldiers of the Eastern Command, law enforcement agencies, and the Young Army cadets solemnly marched accompanied by a joint military orchestra. The military orchestra and parade crews performed the "Victory Day", the "Victory" and the "Serve to Russia" songs. Also, military musicians arranged a concert ‑ground performing songs commemorating the Great Patriotic War.
