Patriarch Kirill lays flowers at Victory Monument on Poklonnaya Hill
On Saturday, the day of 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill visited the Victory Park memorial complex on the Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow and laid flowers at the monument, press office of the Primate reports.
"His Holiness laid a bouquet of red roses at the Flame of Memory and Glory by the Victory Monument. After laying the flowers, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church called "Memory Eternal" on "leaders and warriors who laid down their lives for Faith and Motherland," the message reads.
The Flame of Memory and Glory on the Poklonnaya hill was started ahead of the 65th‑ anniversary on the Victory, on April 30, 2010, with a torch lit at the Eternal Flame of the Tomb of Unknown Soldier in the Aleksandrovsky Garden by the wall of the Moscow Kremlin.
